About the history of the Village and the area.
Drumsagard (often called Drumsargard) has been around for a long time, even if the Village itself is very recent. Here once stood an early Saxon timber fort and then a towering castle. Here's a link to some info on Drumsagard Castle:

Now a circular mound is all that remains (and has not been built upon), though the stones were used c1775 to build Hallside Farm (below):
Remains of an Iron Age fort can be seen on top of Dechmont Hill which overlooks Drumsagard.
In fact, historians say that in prehistoric times, there was once a beach at the bottom of Hallside Boulevard!
Drumsagard Village itself has been transformed, and a couple of the pictures before, and during can be found in these locations:

Not all the land was brownfield, some of the development was on released greenbelt land, but this was traded for development of the brownfield land. The earlier developers like Barratt and Persimmon got the prime greenbelt land near the main road (Hamilton Road) as did some later like Dundas as the brownfield sites were developed. Large areas to the East, North and South of the village are still given over to productive farmland. Relatives of the farm owners now live in the Village itself.
These pics, taken 10 years apart, show the difference. The earlier Barratt houses are brick and block and later houses like the Dundas are timber-framed.
