A wee bit about the local shops in the area.

We now have a few local "shops"

Primarily Tesco Express, which stocks most of the basic ingredients you require from a supermarket. It opens good hours. At first, it stocked a limited range of products, but lately they've been listening to customers and stocking better brands - such as Warburton's bread - but there are few bargains and little in the way of the "value" range, but that's maybe in keeping with the profile of the area. Meat especially and wine (although some has been discounted recently but sells fast)seem expensive, and fresh produce runs out quickly. Its not surprising because it always seems "mobbed". I think a few of the good people of Drumsagard were relieved when they got a Tesco because the size was right for an Aldi or Lidl-type development. (I'm quite a fan of both, especially Lidl, actually, for certain specialist products, but Tesco does a full range of brand names and also doubles as a tobacconist/newsagent.

There are 4 more units as well:

One thing I hoped would not come was the dreaded tanning salon (does anybody actually use these?), but especially for the ladies we have a "Curves" and "Drumsagard Clinic". As if the women of Drumsagard weren't beautiful enough! I'm not complaining but I can see these costing me money - and a wee shop for the gents wouldn't have gone amiss!

We also have an Equis, with a restaurant attached. Fine ice cream and chips with everything. They also do a pasta range. I might have preferred Indian or Chinese or something a bit different like Middle Eastern (my fave) but it does one very good thing. It is a place for the people of Drumsagard to sit together in the Village itself and do something social (especially if we ate like the Italians). As you can see from one of the pictures in the gallery Equi's uses Morton's rolls - maybe that's why a roll and chips tastes so good!
