Getting out of Drumsagard if you have to - and getting home at night!

Drumsagard was designed for cars, and there seems to be ample parking everywhere - even with so many 2-car families! There is quick access to to the M73, M74, M8 and all the major Scottish arteries to Glasgow Edinburgh, England and the beautiful Scottish Highlands (more on that later!)

My wife doesn't need to work (in a "job" that is) or drive, but she gets around just fine. The public transport links from Drumsagard are very good for travelling East or West. Frequent bus services (every 10 mins or so) leave for Glasgow and East towards Hamilton and Motherwell. On route are major shops - Asda, Tesco, Morrisons without too much of a walk. The main buses are 263 and 267 and the timetable can be found here:

There is also a bus going through the Village that goes to Parkhead Forge. Other buses take the kids to local schools in the morning.

I am a bit of a railway buff (not a trainspotter right enough, I just like travelling on them - probably beacuse I fly too much!) I went to Glasgow University in my younger days and always admired Newton Station - our local rail hub. Both trains come within a few minutes of each other in the Glasgow direction. Both normally every 30 mins but you'll never have long to wait in the unvandalised, heated waiting room. Downfall is there is no bridge over the railway. It's a tunnel - which although being a feature and having access below - means that there are stairs if leaving for the East or coming back from Glasgow.

Trains go to Central High level via the South Side or slightly quicker low level. You can vist the village of Lanark with all its history and begin the West Highland Way (my favourite and the world's most beautiful walk) just by taking either platform. There are links to Edinburgh by changing at Cambuslang, and London, by changing at Motherwell, so you don't have to go through the Glasgow hub. Timetables can be found here:

The best feature about Newton is the absolutely free Park and Ride - which has more than enough space on two levels and never seems completely full! A great feature of the Village, and enviable when compared to other locations:
