About the local drinking places and activities

We (some of the residents of Drumsagard) were quite keen at one point to have a local village pub. The idea was that it would be like a Brewer's Fayre or the like - with eating and drinking ans suitable for families. This never came to pass, so apart from parties in houses and a carry-out from the local Tesco or elsewhere. folks have to go outside the village in search of a pub.

There are a few local off the Hamilton Road in the middle of Halfway. None are particularly family-friendly, but they are suitable as local pubs. The First Glass is closest and its does have a welcoming feel. It's a traditional cosy pub, and a lot of locals like to go there for a drink.

A few minutes walk more and The Tudor Inn in Halfway is also a traditional pub, although a lot of the clientelle seem to be local to Halfway itself. The Sun Inn is the biggest in the area, and does the widest range of food, as well as having a function hall for hire. I believe that buses for Old Firm club matches also leave from here.

My personal favourite is just a few minutes down Mill Road from the lights at Halfway. It's the Halfway and District Bowling Club. You can enjoy bowling during the season (it has 2 greens) as well as cheaper drinks and a relaxed club atmosphere.

Although it is a bowling club, there is also an excellent programme of entertainment, and a hall and committee room available with bar service.

John behind the bar offers great service and the members and staff are really friendly. The kitchen means it is ideal for catering as well.
